In January, members of PCG Cares in Albany, Glen Allen, Phoenix, Sacramento, and Troy worked with local organizations to sort and prepare lunches, care packages, and donations to help populations in need. Read on for more details of these inspiring stories in our round-up below.   

On January 10th, a group of six from the Glen Allen, Virginia office spent time preparing lunches for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond Lunches with Love program. Lunches with Love is a lunch delivery program to local pediatric and neonatal units at Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU and Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital. After the PCGers prepared the lunches and helped pack up the coolers for delivery, the representative responsible for delivering the lunches to the Ronald McDonald families was kind enough to give them a tour of the house, a beautifully restored home on Monument Avenue that has been in operation for 39 years and has room for nine families. This was such a fun and rewarding experience and the team hopes to volunteer with them again soon!

Staff from the Glen Allen office volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond to prepare lunches for pediatric families at the area’s local hospitals.

A group of 10 PCGers from the Albany and Troy, New York offices spent the morning of January 11th at the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York. The group sorted and packaged non-perishable food donated from the food industry that will then be distributed to various charitable agencies and organizations serving hungry and disadvantaged people in 23 countries. The Food Bank provides over 35 million pounds of food a year to 1,000 agencies. The team had a lot of fun and it was a great experience to see the impact this Food Bank has on our local communities.

Albany and Troy staff sorted and packaged food donations at the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York to serve the hungry in over 20 countries.

On January 15th, PCG Cares in Phoenix worked with The Assistance League as “Shopping Buddies” on the Delivering Dreams Bus, a mobile dressing center that works with over 50 elementary schools and connects the neediest students with the services. Each student received a package that included clothes, shoes, and hygiene items. The Assistance League of Phoenix is a non-profit that improves the lives of children through philanthropic programs that fulfill basic needs, foster self-esteem, and enhance quality of life.

Phoenix PCGers worked as "Shopping Buddies" on the Delivering Dreams Bus to provide elementary school students in need with packages of clothes, shoes, and hygiene items.

Following the devastation caused by the November 2018 Camp Fire wildfire that impacted thousands of residents of Paradise, California, PCGers were monumental in supporting the relief effort. In employee donations alone, the team was able to provide the Oroville Hope Center with Visa gift cards, blankets, packaged underwear, pillows/cases, reading glasses, earplugs and many other requested items. In addition, PCG made an additional donation in Walmart gift cards that was hand delivered to the founders of the Hope Center in mid-January. These gift cards will be distributed to those at the Chico Fair Grounds shelter and others who have been directly affected by the Camp Fires and who continue to struggle daily to put their lives together. PCG is proud to be a part of the efforts to make a difference for the people of Paradise.
