On August 2, 2018, the cities of Columbus, OH, Cincinnati, OH, Baltimore, MD, and Chicago, IL filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland claiming that the Trump Administration has persistently attempted “to undermine the Affordable Care Act (ACA).” 

Among the allegations in the Complaint are, the Administration is “waging a relentless campaign to sabotage and, ultimately, to nullify the law;” the Administration has “tried to prevent families from obtaining health insurance through the ACA’s exchanges;” and the Administration is “promoting insurance that does not comply with the ACA’s requirements, including insurance that does not cover preexisting conditions.”  The Complaint also accuses President Trump of deliberately undermining his executive obligation to “faithfully execute” the law in violation of the Constitution.
